Even In The "Corner of Nowhere", Strange Things Can Happen...
Well, as promised, I am going to share a little about what happened up here in the little seaside area I live in, known as the Tawases (Two side by side towns, Tawas City and East Tawas). Last week our county held it's Relay for Life, and each year the credit union that I work for participates in it, so some of us always go and make an appearance...it creates tons of goodwill for us within the community. Anyways, part of the festivities included, well, er, um, how can I put this....crossdressers. Some were frightening, as witnessed by yours truly when this, um, "lady" came up to me to say hi....
...and some were, well, in a strange sort of really tall way, kinda hot
Here is my dear friend Chrissy (the shorter one) with Shane, aka "Porsche"
I've been acquainted with Shane for a few years now, and trust me, this was probably for him, his "shining moment"!!!
Thankfully, the gathering was not all about crossdressers that were trying to raise money for the Relay. There is a man in our town by the name of Gene Wojahn, whom everybody knows. He has cancer really bad, and the doctors didn't give him much hope, several years ago, but yet he keeps on going. I have no doubt that it's because he is a committed Christian man, and he has no problem telling people where his strength comes from. He gave a wonderful testimony there that night, and received a standing ovation from everyone.
Well, Ben (bubenun) just phoned, so I am going to close, but I'll be back soon.
Love,
-Richard.

God re-wards good ste-wards
Sometimes we make the mistake of viewing our resources as coming from our own efforts.
The truth is that our blessings come from the Lord.
If we focus on our bank balance or income, we may wrongly believe that we control our assets. This illusion of safety may be replaced by anxiety if we lose our job or suffer a serious illness.
Fixing our eyes on Jesus will bring genuine peace. True financial security is found in our relationship with the Lord, the owner of all things. It’s not found in our bank account or marketable skills. If security is based on our “net worth,” we’ll rarely feel we have enough money. But once we realize God is in charge of our resources, we’ll rest secure because we know He has our best interest in mind.
So why does Scripture address tithing?
Tithes (there are 3 referred to in scripture) to the local church help the work of God’s kingdom continue.
Another reason is we prove God’s faithfulness when we give 30% percent of our income.
Malachi 3:10-12 says we bring Him honor when others see He’s the source of our blessings.
When our security rests in our relationship with Christ, we’ll be thankful for what we do have and will trust Him for the future.
As the Lord’s stewards, Christians are expected to invest their treasure, talents, and time as He directs. God rewards those who handle His money according to biblical guidelines. Those who don’t will lose out on blessings.
Hi Richard! Sorry it's taken me so long. I'm actually in the process of moving, so though I'm off, I'll be moving into my new place. I think this little jaunt of yours sounds like a fun idea. Best wishes in your travels. And give me a call! If I can't talk you'll get my voice mail. I'll call you back when I can.
Blessings,
Lonnie
